Abstract

The water is passed upwards through a bed of a granular material on which are fixed bacterial microorganisms which provoke the nitrification and/or dentrificiation of the water. The internal recirculation of the support, such as sand, results in rubbing whereby the excess microorganisms are sepd. and evacuated from the upper part of the bed. The process is carried out in appts. which contains at least one hydro-ejector to circulate the material. It is used to treat water for drinking. It enables regeneration of the column, ensuring good yields and avoiding blockage.
