Abstract

The offset printing plate is made from a Sn-Ni alloy having a compsn. of 65% by wt. of Sn and 35% by wt. of Ni and having a matt surface. The thickness of the surface compsn. is 0.5-6 mu. The surface is applied to a steel plate initially covered with a layer of chrome. The alloy may also be applied to an Al support plate with a Zn coating before applying the alloy. In each case the alloy and the backing material is applied by electrolysis. The parent patent 033718/78 describes the uses of the alloy.
