Abstract

A removable wheel cover for a car which is fitted to the sprung mass has the cover n20) shaped to fit over the side and top of the wheel (25). It is secured to the chass is at the securing point of the suspension strut (26). The cover reduces the unsprung weight of the vehicle suspension while providing good protection and access for the wheel. For the front wheels the cover is fitted to the suspension in such a way as to swivel with the wheel for steering control. This enables a close spacing to be used with added spray protection.
