Abstract

Deoxidising agent is added to molten ferro-nickel contg. 0.1 wt.% of C. Then the metal is granulated in water and dried to obtain ferro-nickel shots. The deoxidising agent is e.g. Fe-Si and Fe-Mn. A large quantity of metal shots can be produced with simple equipment and comparatively shallow basin, provided pouring speed of metal and water supply are properly regulated. Grain size is large and practically uniform. Most of the grains are shaped as somewhat elongated spheres.
