Abstract

an electronic labelling system is used for recording details of goods stored in a refrigerated system. a microprocessor based data entry unit (11) has a pocket calculator format. Associated with the unit is a card (12) with peel off labels (51-58) that contain a range of symbols descriptive of the type of article to be stored. The symbols are selected by operation of one of the keys provided (13). A numerical keyboard (10) allows details of the article, e.g. weight, life, state of entry etc. to be entered. This information is displayed by liquid crystal elements (15). Operation of a key (M+) allows the displayed data to be entered into a non-destructive memory and also onto the label. A separate key (M-) may be operated to recall the stored data. The produced label is peeled off and is attached to the article.
