Abstract

The steam turbine driven by impulse is for use where waste material is being used as a fuel. The turbine can generate up to 800 k watts with an input pressure of 16 bars at 400 degrees and an exhaust pressure of 2 bars. T'e turbine consists of a symmetrical series of peripheral blades driven by tangential expansion injectors directed along the plane of symmetry of the blades and their support disc and directly at the centre of the blade active surface, the blades and disc being integral. The blades are set closely within adjustable side walls with deflectors, the spacing being about 5 mm between lade and wall. The ratio of the steam jet dia. to that of the blade is about 2.5 to 5.
