Abstract

A winding frame for yarns issuing from a processing machine to which the frame is annexed, where the yarns are fed in a direction parallel to the axis of the winding package, has a traverse mechanism comprising a motor connected to the traverse guide by a dual-clutch device which provides a slower traverse speed in the direction opposite to that of the yarn feed, and a faster traverse speed in the direction parallel to the yarn feed; and controls for the motor speed which accelerate the yarn-package drive roller when moving the thread guides against the yarn feed direction and retard it when the thread guides moves in the same direction as the yarn feed. By varying the traverse speed, the tension variation in the yarn being wound is reduced, giving a more uniform package, and less risk of yarn breakages.
