Abstract

L'invention concerne une composition antioxydante. Une matière organique est stabilisée contre la dégradation par voie d'oxydation par l'addition d'une petite quantité d'un composé antioxydant ou d'un mélange de composés antioxydants renfermant un segment central formé d'un à environ dix groupes o-hydrocarbylphénoliques divalents (par exemple o-tertio-butylphénol) liés entre eux par un pont méthylénique et portant à chaque extrémité des groupes 3,5-dihydrocarbyl-4-hydroxybenzyle terminaux. On les obtient en condensant d'abord un o-hydrocarbylphénol avec la formaldéhyde, puis en faisant réagir le produit intermédiaire avec un 2,6-dihydrocarbylphénol et le formaldéhyde Application à la protection d'un huile lubrifiante contre une dégradation graduelle par voie d'oxydation.
