Abstract

A photoelectric sensor comprises a casing (5) whose interior is absorbent to light. A transmitter (7) and a receiver (8) are separate miniature elements which are mounted on a base (6). Connecting leads (9) pass through insulating rings (10) to allow powering of the elements. One lead (9') is connected directly to the base to complete the circuit. A light guide (11) acts as a separator with one face (12) above the transmitter providing total reflection. Another face (13) above the receiver acts as a semitransparent reflector to allow received light to pass directly to the receiver. Transmitted light is reflected by it but through the cover (14).
