Abstract

The tool consists of a bush with a thread on its lower end which is screwed into the tap body. The bush fits in the bottom end of a sleeve provided at its top end with a screw thread mating with the internal thread in a guide. A shaft carrying the tool is located in the bore of the guide, sleeve, and bush, and the axial position of the shaft in the guide is fixed by a ball bearing, the inner race of which is located in groove in the shaft. The outer race of the ball bearing is located in the bore of the guide; and two anti-friction bearings are mounted on the tool shaft so it can rotate easily in the bush and the sleeve. The shaft is provided on its top end with a pulley and splines employed to rotate the shaft and therefore the grinding tool.
