Abstract
The fire extinguishing equipment consists of a vessel filled with fire-stifling material. The material consists of liquid Freon (RTM) enclosed in microcapsules of a thermoplastic material, such as gelatine. The vessel is firmly closed by a cover, while the rest of the vessel surface is provided with a great number of perforations. The vessel is mounted with the lid parallel either with the room wall, or the room ceiling, the perforation pointing into the room. The vessel surface has an extended spherical part fitted with several igniters consisting of a pyrotechnical mixture which ignites at a certain temp. in the room. The igniter sets off a charge contained in a perforated cartridge which developes the heat necessary to melt the gelatine cover of the liquid Freon, which then evaporates and enters the room via perforations.
