Abstract
The internal combustion engine has a crankshaft (8) which rotates in one direction whilst the cylinder block rotates in the opposite direction. A bevel gear (3) is attached to the cylinder block and transmits its motion to the output bevel gear (1) in the gear box (33). An extension of the crankshaft passes through a hole in the bevel gear (3) and drives a second bevel gear (2) which also meshes with the output gear (1). This idea of rotating cylinder block is applicable to both two-stroke and four-stroke engines. The crankshaft is hollow and has a piston assembly on each side.
