Abstract
Three giant modules each of which has the shape in plan view of a diamon, are deposited on seven jacketed columns anchored to the seabed by piles to form an offshore platform with an hexagonal plan. The platform in intended for the prodn. of petroleum or natural gas and is equipped with a crane for the maintenance of the machinery; a service building on the top of which there is a helicopter station; a mooring for ships, etc. The modules are supported individually by three of the steel structure columns, whilst the three others are each common to two adjacent modules. The columns are fixed to the seabed as soon as possible so that conditions on the site can be studied and inparticular that measurements can be taken between the supporting points, so that an appropriate layout of the modules being manufactured can be ensured. The three giant modules are assemblies of stanchions, struts, etc. which enclose the equipment, pipework, machinery, cables, accessories etc. These are all installed ready for use when the platform is assembled.
