Abstract
The alarm indicator provides a visual warning of a failure in aircraft instrumentation. An indicator connected to a logic control circuit shows that the information is not valid. A micro-torque motor eliminates use of a spiral spring system to reduce volume and energy consumption. An indicator comprises a soft iron armature (1) on which a coil is wound. A rotor (3) magnetised diametrically is able to turn within the inductive field within a range defined by limit steps (4, 5). The rotor carries a visual indicator flag (6). A logic monitoring circuit is coupled to the coil to generate a magnetic field whose polarity is the same as that of the rotor. When a valid signal is present, this causes the flag to be hidden by a mark. When the power fails, or the signal is no longer valid, the flag becomes visible.
