Abstract
The hydrostatic transmission incorporates a variable capacity primary pump of which the capacity is controlled by a servo-valve (1). It uses pilot pressure to actuate the servo-valve. A pilot circuit (2) incorporates the servo-valve upstream of a diaphragm stabiliser (3). It also incorporates an auxiliary valve (4) in parallel with the diaphragm, to establish the pilot pressure. External piloting (5) is used on the auxiliary valve so that shunting of the diaphragm occurs during vehicle braking. The transmission gives progressive motor responses during braking and other operations. The auxiliary valve is piloted by the pressure of the fluid in the vehicle braking system.
