Abstract

(A) Compsn. is a dry, solid mixt. of (a) sulphonate of formula (I) and (b) hydroperoxide (II) obtd. by hydroperoxidation of (I) (M = alkali metal, e.g. Na; RH = lower alkyl, pref. isopropyl; R' = lower alkyl; and n 5, pref. 0 or 1). Pref. compsns. contain 5-75% (I); 25-70% (II) and 0-30% alcohol (III) derived by partial decompsn. of (II). (B) Method for peroxidation of (I) comprises treating its aq. soln. with O2 at is not >85 degrees C and pH 9-10.5 using as catalyst 1-50 ppm on (I) of Co as Co naphthenate. The compsns. are water-soluble bleaching and detergent compsns. which are stable at room temp. They additionally have a softenign effect, making use of separate softeners unnecessary.
