Abstract

Diesel fuel is pumped under high pressure through a fuel line lifting a needle valve against the main spring and atomisation takes place. The valve (7) then lifts allowing surplus fuel to spill back to the fuel tank via the pipe. A spindle is employed with the injector and when the valve is lifted it lifts the spindle, thus breaking the electrical contacts and opening the circuit along a cable thereby shutting off the fuel. Adjustment is made by a rotary knob.
