Abstract

Le câble dont l'enveloppe est par exemple en polyéthylène, est soumis à des refroidissements et réchauffages alternés, les réchauffages ayant lieu dès que la formation d'une croûte externe solide sur l'enveloppe en plastique risque d'entraîner l'apparition de vides. Les réchauffages sont effectués par passage dans des tubes d'air à une température d'au moins 150 degrés C jusqu'à ce que la croûte se ramollisse L'on ne fait jamais passer le câble dans des bacs d'eau à plus de 80 degrés C. La vitesse de refroidissement obtenue peut être inférieure de 30 % aux vitesses habituelles de refroidissement par des bacs d'eau à températures décroissantes.
