Abstract
The polyfunctional initiators are of formula An(M)y .n(T) where M is a Gp. Ia alkali metal, An is y-valent gp. derived from 6-24C benzylic, ring-linked or ring-condensed aromatic hydrocarbons by removal of y H atoms; y is the valence of Ar and is 2, 3 or 4 and T is a tert. amine having >=1 tert. amine gp. in its molecule and n is 0.1-16. The initiator permits polymerisation of ethylene, conjugated dienes (esp. butadiene, isoprene, di-Me-butadiene) vinyl aromatic monomers (e.g. styrene, Me-styrene) and acrylic monomers (e.g. acrylic esters) to lining polymers.
