Abstract

A fibrous material is produced from peat in a bog by a coarse sizing of the peat material suspension and by adjusting the liq. concn. as a function of the degree of humification of the peat. The suspension is then supplied under pressure to a screen with a permeability depending on the peat fibre concentration of the suspension. This creates a continuous method which requires a minimum of manual labour and provides a higher yield from a peat bog. Colloids and particles below 0.2 mm. are separated efficiently with a minimum of fresh water consumption.
