Abstract

More uniform positive and negative half wave currents are delivered to a single phase synchronous motor from a chopper type supply circuit. A positive feed back capacitor (C3) is connected across the switching transistor (T2). In normal operation the stored energy in the capacitor (C3) is rapidly discharged when the transistor (T2) turns on. It thus assists in saturating the transistor rapidly thereby preventing undesirable losses and also giving an improved waveform.
