Abstract

The vessel (1) carries a gantry (4) which extends both sides and carries two vertical telescopic elements (15) each of which supports the submersible craft (2). The element has a hinged base (17). The submersible craft is connected to atmosphere by the telescopic trunking (10) and (11) large enough to be used as an escape line. The vessel is moved vertically on cables (7, 8). Each submersible vessel carries ballast, and a separate drive motor and may travel submerged on the support or hang from the cable when the surface vessel has stopped.
