Abstract

The single contact push buttonl switch is based on a single sprung leaf, esp. for use in electronic calculators, TV set controls, radio station equipment etc. Positive contact action is achieved by making the force necessary to operate the switch at least three times greater than that required to hold the contact. The operating surface acts as one switch electrode and is a shallow pyramid (2) the peak of which is cupped (5) into the pyramid volume. Each of the four corners is stepped (7, 8) to fit the profile of the second contact housing surface (1). Typically the pyramid diagonal is 10.8mm, each edge inclined at 7 degrees and metal thickness is 0.07mm. The pyramid metal may be a silver - bronze allay or some similar electrical conductor having suitable mechanical properties.
