Abstract

The base of a package comprising a layer of plastics film with a local recess for the enclosed article is modified by moulding near the borders of the pack ancillary channels or studs of similar depth to the main recess. These extra 'pockets' enlarge the area over which the pack is supported to allow the pack to be slid along, e.g. in automatic machine systems, without loss, of stability. Pref. the ribs comprise or complete a radial support pattern. The base film with its loaded and ancillary 'pockets' may be covered with a flap of flat film to enclose the pack contents.
