Abstract

Novel material is made from >=1 siliceous prod. in a finely divided state by heating to generate a pyroplastic fused layer on the surface of each particle to form a viscous film without changing the state of the rest of the body of the particle, arranging the particles in contact with one another so that the viscous film merge to form a viscous matrix imprisoning the solid cores, and cooling the mass to solidify the matrix. Used for mfr. of building elements from sands, clays, dusts, etc. The material is available for use at its max mechanical strength immediately after mfr., unlike concrete articles, it can be used as a load bearing material, unlike glass; and does not require expensive machines and tools for effecting high pressures as do bricks and tiles, all of which are made from similar low cost siliceous materials.
