Abstract

A barge for treating the upper layer of a mass of liq. e.g. an oil slick on the sea or a river incorporates an aperture of variable height through which the liq. to be treated enters. This aperture opens to equipment for decantation and storage of products contd. in the liq. which has entered through the aperture. The aperture is situated on one of the laterial faces of the barge parallel to its longitudinal axis, pref. at the middle of its length. The barge has pref means of propulsion allowing it to be moved along its longitudinal axis or following a direction making an angle with the axis. The invention improves the equipment described in the parent patent, in that the aperture is situated on a lateral face of the barge instead of at the front. The mass of liq. being treated is therefore less agitated and the width of the aperture can be greater.
