Abstract

Detachable anti-skid device for pneumatic tyres has plastics cross-brackets fitted with studs provided with nails in the shape of hardened steel cylinders (dia. 4-6 mm.) embedded in the studs and having a rounded collar. The thickness of the "sole" of the cross-bracket is >3.5 mm. between collar and tyre. The dia. of the collar is 12-14 mm. Used for safe driving on roads covered by snow or "black-ice". The device is easily detached from the tyre when no longer needed. It is safer yet less hard than conventional snow chains, and is less liable to damage road surface.
