Abstract

The flexible non-skid covering is mounted on tyres to enhance winter driving of private vehicles and heavy goods vehicles. It consists of independent short rods placed transversely on the tread strip of the tyre and held at their ends. These small bars carry, on their outer face, on the road surface side, three central sections (5, 8 and 9) moulded as superstructure. The section (5) comprises a steel crampon (6). Blocks (2, 3 and 10) form lateral shoulders which are fitted with crampons. On their inner face, on the tyre side, the small rods comprise cones (15) which stabilise the small bars on the tyres. The coverings make it possible to reach speeds of approximately 70 km/h. <IMAGE>
