Abstract

The reciprocating compressor has an inlet chamber (3) which contains the single acting piston (13) in the cylinder (10). The chamber is adjacent to the inlet valve (12) the inlet chamber (3) is vented to the crankcase (2). The lower part of the cylinder (10) is also vented to the inlet chamber through the vents (16) between the rings (14, 15). The discharge valve (11) allows the compressed gas to the outlet passage (6).
