Abstract
A floor panel extending lengthways in the railway wagon is connected with the floor and sidewall to accommodate an electric cable, for heating. There is a lengthways-aligned radiator panel (54), connected to the sidewall (30) and set at an interval from the floor panel (46), to form an intervening heating chamber. It contains perforated (68) heat-conductive material. One or more heating strips (70) are fixed by electrical insulators (74, 78) to the radiator panel, and electrical energy is conveyed from the cable to the strip, generating heat in the chamber. This is transmitted to the radiator panel and through its holes.
