Abstract
The mounting is for lens used in optical instruments where the temperature range can be great and where the lens axis must remain co-axial with the mechanical axis. the lens (3) has an incomplete annulus (5) fitting directly on its rim. This is maintained in position within an outer ring or shell (1) by an elastic, corrugated and preferrable metallic strip (4). the corrugation is across the strip width. A rectangular plastic insert (9) is positioned in the lens rim gap which is coincident with a flat (7) on the lens rim and prevents lens rotation by the pressure of a screw (8) through the outer ring.
