Abstract

Modular prefabricated concrete units (1) are aligned using high tension wires (4, 5), and are then held together by stressing the wires against the end backing plates (6, 7). The prefabric ated units have plane flat transverse faces for even distribution of the compressive forces. Several modular unit stressed together form a beam while several beams together can form floor or bridge decking, the composite elements so formed behaving structurally as prestressed monolithic units.
