Abstract

The mould includes a hollow and flexible inflatable portion which, when inflated, provides one or more mould walls with desired profiles. The inflatable portion may form all the mould surfaces, or may form a mould cavity closed by a solid lid. After filling the mould with any mouldable material, the material is allowed to solidify, set and/or harden; and a vacuum is then applied to the inflatable portion of the mould so it shriks for easy removal of the moulding or casting. The removal of the moulding or casting is pref. facilitated by blowing a gas or air into the mould cavity after the solidification, setting and/or hardening of the object being made. The inflatable portion of the mould pref. possesses rigid and flexible zones and is made esp. of metal and plastic sheets.
