Abstract

In a form and fill appts. flattened tubular stack is longitudinally slit to form a pair of strips each open at one edge, the strips are passed over bag filling means adapted to pass through the open edges, the edges are sealed, and the two tubes thus formed filled and laterally sealed and severed into individual sachets. To prevent contamination, hot air may be directed at the open edges of the strips. Slitting may be effected by a knife carried by a member internally engaging the edges of the tubular stock, and sealing of the edges may be effected by heated bands. Liw. such as milk or particulate material such as sugar, beans and rice may be hygienically packaged at an increased rate c.f. devices using sheet stock.
