Abstract

An anchor rod (1) is welded onto the furnace casing, and has a threaded end located in the threaded bore of a coupling sleeve (5). The end of sleeve (5) nearest the interior of the furnace possesses four slots spaced 90 degrees apart to make four tongue (5a) which will subsequently be bent outwards. A ceramic cup is then driven over part of sleeve (5) via a tube (13) with a conical end fitted with an alloy steel washer pushed over the tongues (5a). A spanner is next used to drive a spreader tool which bends tongues (5a) outwards to anchor the ceramic cup in the furnace lining, thus holding the linings in the furnace casing. Secure fixing of the linings in the furnace is obtd.
