Abstract

Aq acid or neutral Zn electroplating bath contains, as levelling and brightening agent, a cpd. of formula P+T-(I)(P is heterocycle; T is QX or tosyl; Q is R1,R , R2O or R22O and X is SO3, Cl, Br or I; R' is (m)ethyl, propyl, methylmethane (sic), tolyl or benzyl; R2 is (m)ethyl, propyl, and when P = ethyl, propyl or isopropyl nictinate, X is not Cl). Opt. a polyether (II) is included as supporting brightener i.e. a polyethylene or polypropylene glycol; polyglycidol; ethoxylated phenol, naphthol, acetylenic glycol or olefinic glycol. (I) are effective at low concns. and for a wide range of different articles.
