Abstract

Thermo-acoustically insulating additive partic. for lightened concretes or mortars comprises a homogeneous mixt. of particles of expanded polystyrene and an aq. soln. or dispersion of a surface-active agent, the latter being present as 25-1000 g/m3 expanded polystyrene. The surface-active agent is e.g. an alkyl benzene sulphonate, an amide of fatty acid and diethanolamine, a fatty alcohol, or their mixts. Additive can be distributed evenly in the conglomerate to give a homogeneous mfd. prod. which has good mechanical and insulation properties. The additive has good storage properties, even for prolonged periods.
