Abstract

The hinge extender allows articulation of non-adjacent surfaces. An extension socket (1) fits over the original hinge bolt (8). A tightening screw is inserted through an aperture in the socket (1) and prevents slipping of 1 the bolt (8). A bent connecting link (3, 4, 5) is welded onto the socket (3) at one end, and to the other hinge socket (6) at the other end. The perpendicular central section (4) spans the extra thickness to be catered for, and acts as a spacer between the hinge extremitires. The second hinge socket (6) fits over, and is free to rotate around the second hinge bolt (7), which is horizontally displaced from the original bolt.
