Abstract

The mounting utilises a part threaded retaining pin (42) which pivots to wedge the insert in the holder. The pin extends through the insert and a seating plate (29) to enter a specially machined hole (22), the pivoting facility being provided by play between the threads (38, 43) and pivoting being effected by a conical pin-tip (44) encountering a ball-bearing (41). A machined rebate accommodates the insert and the plate, having a plane bearing surface (25) and communicating with a channel in the corner (27). The plate has a doubly conical hole accommodating a seal (37), and the pin has a conical head (46) imparting an inclined retaining force (F) to the insert.
