Abstract

A pipe is connected to a fitting by a coupling nut relatively long undercut at the end of the thread. An O-ring is placed inside the nut and is retained by a threaded collar which is scewed past in until it sits freely in the zone of the undercut. The pipe joint is then completed in the conventional manner. The design eliminates any possibility of the collar or O-ring being lost when the joint has to be dismantled for any reason.
