Abstract

An electric accumulator has an interal pressure relief valve formed by a plug (10) which fits in a circular hole (19) in the accumulator cover (2). The plug has a cylindrical body (13) with three equally spaced flat surfaces around its periphery. A circular flange overlaps the upper end of the body and forms a seal with the aid of an O-ring (11). The plug is a force fit in the hole (19) but when the internal pressure rises too high the plug is forced upwards to reveal a gap between the flat surfaces of the plug body and the edge of the hole.
