Abstract

Appts. comprises two wheels mounted with their shafts parallel or directed towards one another. The rim of one of the wheels has a layer of flexible elastic material on it and the rim of the other has regularly spaced projections, such as spherical balls. The elastic material is pref. a polyurethane elastomer. Specifically, a speed variator has two wheels with polyurethane layers between which a wheel with projections is mounted. The transmission ratio is varied by axial movement of the wheel having projections.
