Abstract

The damper has a cylinder enclosing a chamber filled with working liquid. A piston is integral with a piston rod which slides freely in a bearing fixed to the cylinder. On the working stroke the piston enters a tapered sleeve to damp the movement. A flange houses a seal and provides an annular chamber around the piston rod of slightly greater dia. than the piston. In the return stroke of the damper the piston enters the annular chamber and its movement is braked. The damper is suitable for use in braking means of shuttle boxes of looms.
