Abstract
An indirect ceramic heat exchanger is fabricated by extruding raw material into a multiple parallel duct (1, 2) form. Perpendicular inlet (9) and outlet (10) openings are then formed in a prim series of ducts (1), the unit finally being baked to obtain the required structural characteristics. A polygonal mesh cross-sectional configuration may be adopted with round section sec. ducts at each intersection point, the openings, being formed in the walls of the prim. polygonal section ducts. The mesh may be square or rectangular, the round section ducts being omitted from the latter and the openings being provided in alternative horizontal rows. In addition the unit may be cased in sheet metal with a thermo-insulating lining.
