Abstract

A vacuum filter of the band type, comprising a support carrying a filtering membrane and moving over a vacuum table constituted by successive vacuum chambers joined to one another, and feed and wash liq. hoppers mounted above the chambers, incorporates liq. receivers in the vacuum chambers. Each receiver is placed in the junction zone between two adjacent chambers. It separates each chamber into technological zones. The receiver can undergo longitudinal and angular displacements in relation to the direction of movement of the support. This permits its position to be regulated as a function of the required size of the technological zone. The invention overcomes the inconvenience of existing band filters in which the length of the technological zone is determined by the length of the vacuum chamber or by a multiple length of it. This leads to irrational utilisation of the working surface of the filter. In addn. the properties of the product being treated on the filter can vary in the course of the operation necessitating the regulation of the technological zones. The efficiency of filtration is increased and the conditions of washing of the cake are improved.
