Abstract

The machine is of the type which spreads an area of paste on to a cooking surface. The spreading device now comprises a paste reservoir in the form of a tank of which one side is a cylindrical drum rotating on a horizontal axis. A moving doctor blade in contact with the drum surface determines the width and shape of the paste area which is transferred by the drum from the tank to the cooking surface. Transfer is effected by relative movement between the spreading device adn the cooking surface. The doctor blade is pref. oscillated or reciprocated tangentially to the drum. The front edge of the blade is pref. concave so taht oscillation releases a paste area of width which first increases to a max. and then progressively decreases again, e.g. a circular area. The doctor blade can pref. be locked in a fixed position so that paste can be deposited as a continuous band of selected width. Used for mfr. of pancakes, girdle cakes, etc. The machine can deposit cleanly onto flat cooking surfaces or onto cylindrical cooking surfaces which may be below, above or alongside the transfer drum. The paste reservoir can be positioned well away from the cooking surface so that the paste does not become preheated. Width and thickness adjustments are easily made.
