Abstract

The granular bleaching activator for use in or with detergents and bleaching agents has a particle size of 0.2 - 2.5 mm. The granules are composed as follows: (1) 55 to 90 % by weight of at least one bleaching activator for peroxy compounds having a titre in the peracid formation test of at least 1.5 ml of 0.1 N sodium thiosulphate and (2) 10 to 45 % by weight of a binder material which essentially contains a mixture of at least two hydratable inorganic salts. The first hydratable salt is either sodium tripolyphosphate, borax or mixtures thereof and the second hydratable salt is a salt having a water solubility of more than 30 g of anhydrous salt per 100 ml at 60 DEG C, having a pH of 6 to 11 for a 10 % by weight aqueous solution and without a hydrate transition point of below 35 DEG C. The bleaching activator granules have satisfactory stability during storage, mechanical strength and disintegration properties on contact with water.
