Abstract

The maize harvester has two front cutters in pick-up passages bounded by guide walls. The passages have rising feed chains wuth interleaning teeth forming grippers. The passages converge to an intake auger assembly, the chain drive sprockets being in turn driven from a gear bevel train with a common input shaft. The auger assembly is positioned in front of pairs of infeed rollers (3, 4), and has right and left hand spirals at its respective ends. The inner end of each spiral carries a straight paddle, the latter being circumferentially offset relative to one another and extending to the middle of an infeed opening.
