Abstract

A number of adjustable ties (1) are used to apply point loads to a flexible sheet (7) to obtain a concave form. Each tie is anchored to a block (3) which is bonded to the rear face of the sheet, the latter being integrated with or mounted on a support structure (11). The tie and the anchor may be in one piece, or may be separate pieces, allowing articulation at the joint. The one piece type may be a simple screw with a polished head and the separate anchor may provide a segmental spherical bearing surface (4) for a screw head (2) of reciprocal form. The traction appliec to each screw may be verified by dynamometric instrument or by visual examination of the reflective surface.
