Abstract

A hot and cold water mixing tap has an inlet (10) for cold water and an inlert (12) for hot water. Each inlet can be sealed off by a common flexible diaphragm (11) actuated by plungers (15). The plungers (15) are in turn actuated by a hinged flap (17) with its hinge pin (19) fixed to a rotatable housing (23). A vertical lever mounted inside the housing (23) can depress the flap (17) to shut off both water inlets (10, 12). Rotating the lever about its vertical axis (18) rotates the housing (23) and flap (17) which pushes down one plunger (15) and allows the other one to rise and so varies the ratio of hot to cold water.
